Vice Chancellor of the Sunyani Technical University, Professor Ing. Kwadwo Adinkrah- Appiah has expressed worry about lecturers who always leave the institution after they have received support to further their education.
Professor Ing. Kwadwo Adinkrah-Appiah says the Management of the University has embarked on an aggressive staff upgrading but is facing the challenge of the staff leaving to join the traditional universities after receiving support to further their education.
Professor Ing. Adinkrah-Appiah was speaking at the 12th Congregation ceremony of the institution.
“Our ultimate aim is to ensure that at least 50 percent of all faculty obtains a terminal PhD in the medium term. A total of 45 faculty are being sponsored to pursue PhD in various Universities. One major consternation facing Management is the high attrition rate of our faculty in favour of traditional universities after they have been sponsored by the University to obtain their PhDs degrees through our limited IGF.”
A total of 1554 students’ graduated with Degrees, HND and Diplomas. Out of the number 1,057 representing 68 percent are males whiles 497 representing 32 percent are females.
Professor Ing. Adinkrah-Appiah also said that an award scheme has been instituted to motivate the staff.
