The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested Apostle Kofi Nkrumah Sarkodie by disregarding President Akufo-Addo’s directive of suspending church services among others for a month to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Ghana.
Apostle Kofi Nkrumah Sarkodie who is the Founder and Leader of Open Arms Ministry was arrested during a service with his congregation at his North Suntreso Branch in Kumasi.
President Akufo-Addo last Sunday banned all church activities as well as all social gatherings in a way to reduce the spread of Coronavirus in Ghana.
Schools from basic level to Universities have been closed down to ensure that the Coronavirus does not spread. Ghana has so far recorded seven cases with the last one been a 35-year-old who returned from France .
The Ashanti Regional Police Command is yet to prefer charges against Apostle Sarkodie.
A Pastor of Christ Apostolic Church in the Western Region, Pastor Thomas Ayebah says he does not support President Akufo-Addo’s directive on closing down of churches in the country as a means preventing the spread of COVID-19.
A legal practitioner, Lawyer Ohene Gyan has indicated that Pastors who disregard such directive from the President should not be tolerated.
He said Apostle Sarkodie is only interested in the offertory of his congregation that is why he disregarded the directive.
