MEDIA HOUSES ARE PART OF THE EXEMPTION GROUP- MINISTER OF INFORMATION

The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has indicated that media houses are part of the exemption following the lockdown in relation to COVID-19.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah speaking to the media at the Meet the Press in Accra to give an update on COVID-19 admonished media practitioners in the lockdown regions to always to carry their Identification Cards and should always be in branded attire.

Mr. Nkrumah speaking at the programme also condemned the increasing number of prank calls to the COVID-19 emergency numbers.

He indicated that prank calls to the emergency number cover more than 95% of the call traffic.

The Ministry of Communication has said phone numbers that place prank calls to Ghana’s 112 emergency call centre will from Friday, March 27, 2020, be permanently blocked from reaching the centre.

The ministry, in a statement issued Thursday, March 26, 2020 said the move had become necessary due to the exponential rise in prank calls that were sent to the centre between January 28 and March 16 this year.
