Former Member of Parliament for the Tain Constituency in the Bono Region, Kwasi Agyemang Gyan-Tutu who lost in the parliamentary primaries of the NDC last year has described the elections as fraudulent.
The Former legislator, Kwasi Agyemang Gyan-Tutu is calling for the re-run of the elections following incidents that characterised the elections fortnight ago.
He noted that the just ended Parliamentary primaries was characterized by intimidation from the supporters of his opponent Sulemana Adama.
Kwasi Agyemang Gyan-Tutu pulled 507 votes and lost to Sulemana Adama who had 564 votes.
Mr Gyan-Tutu disclosed to First1News that he has written officially to the Regional and National executives of the party to act on the case.
“The total number of persons expected to vote was 1,130, there were two polling stations if you combine the total votes from both polling stations amounts to 1,043. Meanwhile, if you add my votes plus the votes of the other candidate and spoilt ballots you get 1,076 this is an over vote of 33, where did the 33 votes come from. Things that happened that made the vote on that unfair. If I lose an election fairly why would I complain?”
Mr. Gyan-Tutu disclosed that he is opened to many options if the party does nothing about the issue.
“I have not declared my intention to go as an independent candidate, the posters circulating that I am going as an independent candidate are from my supporters. But if nothing is done about the issue I may consider the option if that is what would deliver the seat to the NDC from the NPP,” He disclosed.
Before the Regional and National Executives respond to his letter, posters calling on him to go as an independent candidate in 2020 elections are all over in the Tain Constituency.
