BOOZE CANNOT PREVENT CORONAVIRUS

The   Public Relations Officer of the Centre Centre for Plant Medicine Research (CPMR), Mampong Akuapem, Baffour Osei Akoto has debunked news allegation that alcohol is capable of killing Coronavirus.

In a statement signed by Baffour Osei Akoto stated that, “This is because, for a sanitizer to be effective in ridding the hands of coronavirus, it must have 60-95 per cent alcohol by volume.The alcohol content for bitters on the market is often less than 45 per cent. Thus, clearly, such bitters and their alcohol contents are inadequate as a sterilizing measure against COVID-19.”

Mr. Akoto also said,“As a research centre of excellence, however, we are engaging with our various partners and stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health and Traditional Medicine Practitioners to explore research opportunities in the fight against COVID-19 using herbal medicine.”

The Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kumah-Aboagye has denied speculations that a suspected Coronavirus patient at a facility in Tema has bolted away.

Dr. Kumah-Aboagye urged Journalists to continue their education on the coronavirus to disabuse misinformation being churned out.

Bishop Daniel Obinim, founder and Leader of the International God’s Way Church has taken precautionary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus as he counsels members of congregation. Ghana has so far recorded six cases of coronavirus.

A journalist working with the state-owned media, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation(GBC) has been advised to do a self quarantine after he had contact with the Norwegian Ambassador who has tested positive for COVID 19.
